Steampunk Professions

This is an entry for #dungeon23. I am writing a room or detail for a Steampunk megadungeon every day.

Today’s entry is a list of Steampunk professions. I’ve generated over 100 professions and I’ven started to flesh them out with a little help from the ChatGPT AI. Here are the first five professions in the list:

Absintheur

An absintheur specializes in the production and serving of absinthe, a highly alcoholic, anise-flavored spirit that is rising in popularity as Gwerddonau Llion enters its Steam Era.

Absinthe is made from a base of neutral spirits, typically made from grain, and is flavored with a variety of botanicals, including anise, fennel, and wormwood.

The absintheur’s job involves sourcing and selecting the ingredients for the absinthe, preparing and distilling the spirit, and serving it in the traditional manner, which involves diluting the absinthe with water and serving it over a sugar cube.

The absintheur is responsible for ensuring that the absinthe is of high quality and meets the standards of the tradition.

Acid Doctor

Acid Doctors use acids as a form of treatment. Their job involves administering acidic substances to patients in an attempt to cure or alleviate their medical conditions. This usually involves the use of various types of acids, such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, which can be harmful if not handled properly.

Acid Doctor are trained at the University and have a thorough understanding of the properties and effects of these acids, as well as the appropriate dosages and methods of administration. They also need to be prepared to deal with any adverse reactions or complications that may arise as a result of treatment with acids.

Usually, the Acid Doctor will have access to advanced technology or equipment that allows them to safely administer and control the use of acids in treatment. However, rogue or disbarred members of the Acid Doctor’s League may set up illicit surgeries where regulation is unable to hamper their research pursuits.

Aeromaster

An Aeromaster would be responsible for piloting steam-powered aircraft, often referred to as an “aerostat” or a “dirigible.” The pilot navigates the aircraft through the air and ensures the safety of passengers and crew.

As with any pilot, the Aeromaster is responsible for pre-flight planning and preparation, including checking the weather, the aircraft’s systems and equipment, and the flight plan. During the flight, the Aeromaster monitors the aircraft’s instruments and systems, communicates with air traffic control and other pilots, and makes any necessary adjustments to the flight plan. In the event of an emergency, the Aeromaster needs to use their skills and training to safely land the aircraft or take other appropriate action.

The Aeromaster is also responsible for maintaining and repairing the aircraft’s steam-powered systems, as well as any other mechanical or mechanical-based equipment on board the aircraft.

Airship Port Stevedore

An Airship Port Stevedore is responsible for loading and unloading cargo from airships at a port. They are also responsible for inspecting and maintaining the airships and their cargo holds, as well as coordinating with the airship crew and other members of the port staff. In addition, they may be responsible for keeping track of cargo records and ensuring that all necessary paperwork is in order.

The job of an Airship Port Stevedore requires physical strength and stamina, as well as attention to detail and good communication skills. It may also involve working in a variety of weather conditions and at heights.

Alchemobard

An Alchemobard is a performer who uses alchemy and storytelling to entertain audiences all around Gwerdonnau Llion. They may use a variety of alchemical tools and techniques to create special effects and illusions as part of their performances, which may include music, dance, and other forms of artistic expression.

In addition to their performance skills, Alchemobards may also be responsible for creating and maintaining their alchemical equipment, as well as rehearsing their routines. They may perform at a variety of events, such as festivals, concerts, and other public gatherings, and may also work in more intimate settings, such as theaters or clubs.

Alchemobards typically have a strong background in alchemy and the performing arts, and may also have training in other areas such as costume design and stagecraft.
